Joined Staff: February 2007

His Responsibilities: Music Ministry, Media Ministry, and Missions Ministry

His Salvation Story:

I walked the aisle of a baptist church when seven and was baptized though I really was saved at the age of 28, after I entered the ministry. Since that time I have had my fair share of struggles but Jesus has always been there to discipline me and love me back into a right relationship with Him. I can not imagine life without Jesus. He is the most incredible thing that has ever happened to me. I desire to bring Him glory and tell others about my Savior.

Student Minister

Joined Staff: November 2016

His Responsibilities: Student and College Ministry

His Salvation Story: I grew up in a loving, faithful, church-going family. I knew all the stories, could answer the questions, and thought that I knew Jesus. When I was eight years old, I realized that I was a sinner, I deserved punishment, and that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I asked Christ to forgive me and made him my Lord and Savior. Since then, life has been a journey of learning to follow in obedience.

Diane Roberson

Preschool and Children's Director

Joined Staff: March 2009

Her Responsibilities: Preschool and Children's Ministry including Weekday Preschool, Sunday School, Discipleship and all Preschool and Children's Activities

Her Salvation Story: I was saved when I was 8 years old. My Mother led me to Christ in my bedroom at home. Since that time, I have had areas of life where I have tried to walk away from God and what He means to me. There have been times of rebellion where I thought the world had what I really needed in life. But God has been faithful to His word, that nothing can snatch me from His hand. I am so thankful that He does not give up on us! It is my desire to Glorify Him, follow His will and purpose for my life, and teach children who God is to them and what He can mean to them now and for the rest of their lives.

Family: God gave me a wonderful, understanding husband, Stacy, on December 31, 1991. We have 3 children, Erica, Molly and Gillis.

His Salvation Story:

At age 13, I was baptized at FBC Louisville, Georgia.  From age 13 to age 37, I served in many roles in the church such as youth minister, recreation minister, pastor, Christian school teacher, athletic director, coach, Sunday School teacher and was a seminary graduate.  During those 24 years, I was a good guy doing good works in a good place called the church.   I was the poster child of what a Christian should look like. However, I knew that something was not right in my heart. I was trained by the church to be a model Christian citizen, but I could not share my faith primarily because I did not have one to share.  I could not lead anyone to the Lord because I did not truly know the Lord.  In 2007 in a little town called Bowman, Georgia at a church located among the chicken farms of Northeast Georgia, I came to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and it changed my life.  I went from being a model Christian citizen to being a broken man who realized that He needed Jesus to be made complete.  I came to know the God that I had learned about and taught about for 24 years.

This did not happen overnight for me.   I wrestled with the Holy Spirit for 6 months.  I would wake up in the middle of the night and could not sleep.  I examined every part of my life and everything that I had done.  Matthew 7: 18-21 says, “A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits. Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.”   I became a fruit inspector.  I inspected every aspect of my life.  I came to realize that I had not produced much fruit if any at all.  After 24 years of good church life, I deserved to be cut down and thrown into the fire.  I was the guy saying “Lord, Lord” in Matthew 7:21.  I knew all the Sunday School answers.  I could stand in front of folks and preach a sermon.  But I did not know Jesus!  I was not doing the will of My Father.  I was not going to heaven.

Today I have a heart for people who attend church every week and do not know Jesus.  I believe Billy Graham said that 85% of church members do not know Jesus as their Savior.  I believe it because I was part of that percentage.  It was the hardest thing in my life to go forward in front of my church and admit that I needed Jesus to come into my life.  It was hard because everyone knew me.  They knew that I was a good guy.  I was a Sunday School teacher, former pastor, youth minister, and seminary graduate.  I had all the credentials.  I just didn’t have Jesus.  But when I went forward, it was like a burden was lifted off of my shoulders.  All of my fears of what others would think did not come true.   It did not matter because I publicly acknowledged what God had been doing privately in my life.

And God has continued to break me and grow me over the last 7 years.  I am learning to literally depend upon Him for everything.   I am thankful that God is not leaving me the way I was.  He is making me into a new creation
