His Salvation Story: Born to Ethridge and June Hattaway in Douglas, Georgia on April 27, 1964, I was the only son of four children. We lived in a modest country home where my mama’s chief concern was to take care of her husband and children. My daddy worked at Daniel’s Feed and Seed and tended the small farm that we called home. Ours was a loving Christian home where we had many happy times together.

Our entire week revolved around a little country church called New Harmony Grove Baptist. We faithfully attended Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday night prayer meetings. My mama was the church pianist, and my daddy was the song leader.

My parent’s faith had a great impression on me. Through their Christian influence and the ministries of our church, I realized that I was a sinner in need of forgiveness. I learned that Christ was the sinless Savior who was crucified, died, and rose again that I might be saved. At age seven, I talked with my parents about becoming a Christian. After accepting Christ, I was baptized and began a journey of faith that has led me to where I am today.

His Salvation StoryI am very blessed to have been raised in a Godly home where my dad and mom both followed Christ visibly.  I was blessed to be taken to church from an early age but at home was where I was taught the Bible.  When I was 9 years old I knew without any doubt that if I were to die I would be forever separated from God in hell.  Upon my heart being stirred by the Holy Spirit, my father led me to the Lord.

Jonathan McDuffie

Student Minister

Joined Staff: November 2016

His Responsibilities: Student and College Ministry

His Salvation Story: I grew up in a loving, faithful, church-going family. I knew all the stories, could answer the questions, and thought that I knew Jesus. When I was eight years old, I realized that I was a sinner, I deserved punishment, and that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I asked Christ to forgive me and made him my Lord and Savior. Since then, life has been a journey of learning to follow in obedience.

Diane Roberson

Preschool and Children's Director

Joined Staff: March 2009

Her Responsibilities: Preschool and Children's Ministry including Weekday Preschool, Sunday School, Discipleship and all Preschool and Children's Activities

Her Salvation Story: I was saved when I was 8 years old. My Mother led me to Christ in my bedroom at home. Since that time, I have had areas of life where I have tried to walk away from God and what He means to me. There have been times of rebellion where I thought the world had what I really needed in life. But God has been faithful to His word, that nothing can snatch me from His hand. I am so thankful that He does not give up on us! It is my desire to Glorify Him, follow His will and purpose for my life, and teach children who God is to them and what He can mean to them now and for the rest of their lives.
