Puerto Rico Trip: June 8-14, 2024
Puerto Rico is a beautiful island, but it is also an island in need—physically, economically, and spiritually. Unfortunately, many in Puerto Rico are experiencing a crisis of hopelessness. An economic crisis from 2015, back-to-back categories 4 & 5 hurricanes in 2017, earthquakes in 2019-2020, category 1 hurricane in 2022, and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic have all taken their toll on the island’s residents.
Send Relief began responding to the needs in Puerto Rico after the devastation caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. Thousands of volunteers were mobilized in the aftermath of the storms to rebuild damaged homes, distribute meals, and share the hope of Christ through service.
Send Relief has been able to rebuild over 300 homes, clean up communities, provide hundreds of backpacks (whether for back-to-school or emergency kits), and empower the local churches to share the gospel with those around them.
Mission teams will mainly engage in light construction to help repair and rebuild homes and churches. In addition, members of mission teams may participate in community outreach through prayer walking, meal distributions, etc.
